Harris Chapel Torah (Hey) Dedication
The butterflies on the cover of the Hey Torah in the Harris Chapel have special meaning for Rita Grossman. They are inspired by the poem “The Butterfly” and reminds her of the Holocaust, the survivors, those lost there, and her family history.
Rita has worked with this Torah scroll for over 25 years in her role as a Shamash for daily services and over the years Rita has developed a special relationship with it. During April Rita and her family are dedicating the Torah scroll and Torah cover to Mount Zion in blessed memory of her husband Sherman Grossman and her parents Nettie and William Blaine. Mount Zion is grateful to Rita and her family, and shares with them the beauty of these memories and the significance of this gesture.
