Saint Paul Mayor Melvin Carter and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey will speak on sequential Friday nights during the 7:30 pm Shabbat services. Mayor Carter is a fourth-generation Saint Paul resident who grew up in the Rondo neighborhood. He is the son of a police officer and a teacher (who later became a County Commissioner), both of whom instilled in him the value of community and public service. He is St. Paul’s first African American mayor. Mayor Frey is a former Minneapolis City Council Member, a civil rights attorney, and Minneapolis’ second Jewish mayor.
