After services, enjoy mini-Nothing Bundt Cakes! Why? Because it is fun, and Sukkot is all about JOY! (Gluten-free, dairy free options will be served).
After the shemita year (the sabbatical year which occurs every seven years), the ancient Israelites gathered (Hakhel) on Sukkot morning as a community to hear the message of Torah. It was actually the only time every person – woman, man, child, stranger – was REQUIRED to attend a community gathering. At Mount Zion, we will simply invite you!
As part of our Festival Service, we will have a special participatory Torah study. Each person will be invited to share two Torah verses (in English): 1) One verse in the five books of Moses that you love (and inspires you); and 2) one verse that moves you to action. They can be the same verse, but you can think of them as one that speaks to your heart and one to your hand (action). Don’t worry if you don’t have verses to share; you’ll learn from those who do!
