From Service to Non-Partisan Civic Engagement: A Conversation with Nausheena Hussain and Beth Gendler

6:00 Shabbat Services; 7:00 Conversation and Program

This special Shabbat will honor and recognize the social justice efforts that you make happen across our congregation. If you have participated in any social justice work through Project HOME/June Shelter, Women of Mount Zion Temple, Brotherhood, the Tzedek Committee, youth group, the Religious School, we want to celebrate your important work and reflect together about what else we can do to bring about tikkun olam (repair of the world).

After services, from 7-8 pm, Nausheena Hussain, co-founder and Executive Director of a new platform to empower women in her community known as RISE-Reviving the Islamic Sisterhood for Empowerment. and Beth Gendler, Executive Director of National Council of Jewish Women, MN will speak about their work together in the community and lead a discussion on the ways to actualize our civic responsibilities. Rabbi Spilker will introduce the Reform Movement’s Civic Engagement Campaign.
