Dr. Paul Schanfield, author of A Migraine in Room 3, A Stroke in Room 4: A Physician Examines His Profession, a long time St. Paul resident, is a clinical neurologist and medical educator – his book endeavors to rekindle the commitment to the human side of medicine by emphasizing patient-centered care. While the book is poignant and engaging, instructive and informative, it is at times charming and humorous.
Susan Weinberg, author of We Spoke Jewish – A Legacy in Stories, is a local artist, author and genealogist. Susan’s new book explores the three waves of Jewish immigrants to the United States in the 20th century. Through artwork and oral history, it tells the stories of the Jews of early immigrant communities, the Holocaust survivors who came post-war, and the immigrants from the former Soviet Union who came in the latter part of the century. This book grew out of a series of oral histories with Jewish elders and their families.
