A panel featuring members of our community who live with a mental health condition discussing their experiences with family, work, synagogue, and more. Conditions discussed will include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use/addiction, transgender.

Major Depression: One School Administrator’s Story

Al Levin is assistant principal at Linwood Monroe Elementary school. Al and his wife Jill have four children, Julia, Georgia, Isabel and Sam. His interest in learning more about and supporting others with mental illness came after facing major debilitating depression. Al is a volunteer speaker for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and co-chair of Mount Zion’s new Mental Health Task Force. He has recently launched a podcast called The Depression Files that features interviews with men from around the world who have struggled with depression.
