A Journey of Hope from Prophecy to Poetry to National Anthem to Pop Band
A new session with Mike Hollander – Live from Modiin, Israel!
Sunday, April 24, 10:00-11:15 am via Zoom – No cost but RSVP is required for the zoom link.
This session focuses on the idea of Hope/Hatikvah, which is Israel’s national anthem. As the late British Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks said, “…that is what it is to be a Jew. You never let go of hope…we are the people who gave the concept of hope to the world.” This session begins with the biblical period, and crosses millennia of Jewish memory to the present, to understand how hope for a better future has helped keep the Jewish people alive. More than our national anthem composed in the late 19th century by an eccentric bohemian, in fact Hatikvah/the Hope is a crucial part of the Jewish DNA.
