Speaker: Rabbi Spilker
Within our congregation, as in our society, people have different views of politics, Israel, and any number of topics.
The goal of this Food for Thought is to strengthen a culture of constructive disagreement, or mahloket l’shem shamayim, at Mount Zion. Our conversation will begin in text study of the ancient Sanhedrin, the Jewish court or parliament, and their rules for debate. Then we will reflect on what we need to work on as a congregation in our political conversations.
Part of an international civil dialogue effort called “Mahloket Matters/9 Adar” from Pardes in Jerusalem.
