Faith communities around the country are discussing their role in supporting and sheltering people who are facing deportation by ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Our values may be clear (see Leviticus above), but the practical roles and responsibilities may not be. The Reform Movement has given guidance through a URJ Board Resolution in March (click here to read it.) Our Tzedek committee will host the Town Hall Meeting (and a briefer, alternate conversation on Shabbat) and a follow-up meeting on Monday, August 28 at 7 pm to draft a proposal to our Board. All are welcome. Please contact Deb Moses, Tzedek Committee chair with any feedback or questions. Feel free to contact our clergy with any feedback as well.
