Shoes on the Danube: A Survivor’s Story and a Rabbi’s Experience 72 Years Later

Friday, April 21, During Shabbat Services, 7:30 pm

Mount Zion member Charles Fodor was born in Hungary and survived the Shoah/Holocaust as well as the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 against Russia. He will share his harrowing stories of 1944/45 during the brief weeks that the Arrow Cross controlled Budapest.

Rabbi Spilker visited Budapest, as well as Vienna, as part of a rabbinic mission in January. He will give context to Charles’ first hand experiences, talk about anti-Semitism in Europe and America, and share something about the remarkably vibrant Jewish life today in Budapest.
