The Begegenen Hour: Serena Zabin

Tue May 26, 2020 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

A biweekly series of interesting and engaging topics by, with, and/or about Mount Zion members – 7-8pm Tuesdays via Zoom.

Author, Professor, and Mount Zion member Serena Zabin
Moderated by Mount Zion member Paul Bagdade

Join us for some food for thought while you travel to a faraway time and place: Boston, in the years before the American Revolution. Congregant Serena Zabin (Professor of History, Carleton College) will talk about her new book, The Boston Massacre: A Family History.  The story of the Boston Massacre—when on a late winter evening in 1770, British soldiers shot five local men to death—is familiar to generations. But the history of the event has always obscured a fascinating truth: the shooting arose from conflicts that were as personal as they were political. The Wall Street Journal called The Boston Massacre a “rich and highly enjoyable book.”  Settle in for a discussion followed by live Q&A on Zoom. You can even buy signed books afterwards!

Serena and her family are Mount Zion members, and you can see her earlier Humans interview here.
