Tisha B’Av: Our Historic Day of Communal Reflection on Suffering

Wed July 29, 2020 at 7:30 pm

This year, St. Paul synagogues join Minneapolis
via Zoom (for the link contact the office)

For two decades, Beth Jacob, Temple of Aaron, and Mount Zion have commemorated Tisha B’Av together. This year we are joining Adath Jeshurun, Mayim Rabim and Sharei Chesed.

All are welcome to join us. We will begin with a study session conducted by Rabbi Adam Rubin, the incoming rabbi of Beth Jacob. We will do an slightly abridged Maariv service using slides from the Lev Shalem Siddur. Attendees should have their own Siddur for the text of the Amidah. We will conclude with the reading of Eicah/Lamentations.

Tisha B’Av recalls the gratuitous hatred – sinat chinam – that existed between Jews during the Roman period. Having a combined service of congregations representing diverse Movements represents our aspirations to create gratuitous love – ahavat chinam.
