This study group would meet monthly to learn about reparations both in general and specifically in St. Paul, to learn about the Rondo neighborhood, and to understand Mount Zion’s role then and now. Along the way, we’ll read formative articles, discuss local histories, and meet with St. Paul leaders in the reparation effort.
Upcoming Group Events
Guest: City of St. Paul Councilperson Rebecca Noecker, Ward 2
Please join us as we continue to learn more about reparations and Rondo. We will begin by reviewing the Resolution (77-21) that committed St. Paul to reparations, and then the councilperson will provide us with an update on the reparations effort, with some time set aside for questions.
Past Group Events
For the first meeting, two resources will be helpful to preview. The first is Resolution 21-77, passed by the St. Paul City Council on 13 January 2021. The second is the long, important article that many cite as the impetus for the recent reparations efforts, Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “The Case for Reparations.”
Join by Zoom here.
If you don’t have time to preview either resource, you are still welcome to attend the first meeting, when we will identify our interest in the topic and consider future meeting topics. If you have questions, please contact Michael Kuhne.
