Milestone Birthdays and Anniversaries

Birthday

As Jews, we have inherited a precious tradition which teaches us to choose life and to appreciate its gifts with joy, laughter and celebration. When we have a birthday, in Hebrew we say, “ad meah ve-esrim,” “May you live to be 120, as did our teacher Moses!”

In this spirit, at Mount Zion Temple, we hope that our members will share their special birthdays with us and the entire Mount Zion family. With this in mind, at the third Shabbat Service of every month, we will ask all those who are celebrating birthdays during the month to join us on the bima for recognition and a blessing.

Anniversary

As Jews, we have inherited a precious tradition which teaches us to choose life and to appreciate its gifts with joy, laughter and celebration. When we have an anniversary we say the “shehecheyanu” blessing in praise of God who has sustained us, given us life, and enabled us to reach this milestone.

In this spirit, at Mount Zion Temple, we hope that our members will share their special wedding anniversaries (anniversaries ending in a 0 or 5) with us and the entire Mount Zion family. At the second Shabbat Service of each month, we will ask all those who are celebrating special anniversaries during the month to join us on the bima for recognition and a blessing.

In the weeks preceding your special anniversary, you will receive an invitation to be honored at services that month. If you would like to make sure we have your anniversary on record, please contact Julie, our assistant.
