Blessings and Text Study

Before engaging in the holy act of tikkun olam, repair of the world, in deeds large and small, it is appropriate to say a blessing.

Baruch ata Adonai, Elohei-nu me-lech ha-olam, asher kid-shanu b’mitz-votav v’tzi-vanu leer-dof tzedek.

Praised are You, Adonai our God, Sovereign of the Universe, who commands us with the mitzvot and commnands us to pursue acts of tzedek/justice.

For more information on ways that texts intersect with pursuit of justice, please go to the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, our movement’s voice in the national and international arenas.
