Alisha Sawyer

Religious School Director

Alisha Sawyer began as the Religious School Director at Mount Zion in July 2023. She is committed to creating meaningful educational experiences that form the foundation for Jewish identity and values. With a background in a variety of educational settings including STEM, theater, early childhood, and Waldorf, she brings diverse experience to the role and is excited to be a part of the Mount Zion community.  

 

Alisha grew up in Minnesota in the Jewish communities in Minneapolis and Saint Paul and was a graduate of Talmud Torah Minneapolis. She studied Directing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a focus in theater for young audiences. She then attended Teachers College at Columbia University where she got a Master’s degree in School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center.   

 

Alisha is married and lives with her spouse, Hunter, and dog, Muenster, in Minneapolis. In her free time, she is an avid crafter (knitting, needlepoint, quilling and more) and a new but enthusiastic Mah Jong player.
